Saxophonist Tony Malaby is so deeply ingrained in the NYC out jazz scene that Big Birthdays come as no surprise. To celebrate, he’s assembled a couple of titanic players he’s been playing with forever, and another superb one he’s been playing with less than forever.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: Friday in Park Slope, another chance not to get into Masalawala & Sons. Saturday in Bed-Stuy, you should at least buy some drinks from the venue.  But if you want some more interesting and substantial food than LunÀtico serves, grab some Southern at Peaches.
