String trios are somehow almost inherently attractive — and are rare enough that they only infrequently get programmed. So while this gets Listed for the Jessie Montgomery (an extraordinary stringwriter) and the Adolphus Hailstork, we have to note the great appeal of the Kodaly, the Dohnányi, and yes, even the Richard Strauss (Rebecca Clarke is neither here nor there, I’m afraid).
