LaMonte Young, a composer of almost unimaginable influence whose work seeded both Drone and Minimalism, composed only two pieces for solo performers other than himself — and this is one of them. It was composed, in Just Intonation, for the astonishing cellist Charles Curtis 20 years ago; Curtis plays it tonight. As at its premiere, it’s to be performed in the midst of mind-expanding light environment by Young’s partner, Marian Zazeela.
