Henry Purcell’s Baroque “semi-operas” were intended as major entertainments, and entertain they still do. Purcell really knew his way around a tune! This one is based on A Midsummer Night’s Dream. It will be sung by Les Arts Florissants’ junior division, Le Jardin des Voix; played by Les Arts Florissants’ splendid orchestra; conducted by Paul Agnew; and staged by the choreographer Mourad Merzouki.
