James Rushford is really special. It’s like he looks at all of Western music as a set of sources for sonic transmutation. So Thursday he’ll play new pieces for Renaissance organ, voice, and electronics; Sunday he’ll play Romantic and Post-Romantic piano pieces by Fauré, Busoni, Gurdjieff, and Emahoy Tsegué-Maryam Guèbrou, concurrently with his own electroacoustic overlay.
