This is both great and, at least if you’re me, a little bit hard to bear. A long-lost Austrian Expressionist film (there aren’t many — certainly not that survive) from 1924 that takes a satirical look at (wait for it) what comic mishaps would befall Vienna if it tried to eliminate its Jews. The great Klezmer+ violinist Alicia Svigals and master silent-film accompanist Donald Sosin will play a gorgeous score they composed. Now wait, why is it again that I don’t have any cousins in Austria, where one side of my family came from?
