The current situation has us all thinking about the meaning of death, and its rituals. Timothy White Eagle does something creative about it.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: Doc's Dram: pour 1-1/2 oz. Rye, 1/2 oz. each of Old Tom Gin, Oloroso Sherry (sweetened, like Lustau East India, if possible), lemon juice, and Maple Syrup, with 1 teaspoon of Apple Butter and 1 dash of Angostura bitters, into an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Shake. Strain into a double rocks glass over ice. Garnish with an apple slice.
