I'm recommending this for Episodes — setting the ethereally precise music of Webern — the Balanchine piece that most looks like it could have been choreographed the day before yesterday. Also for Rodeo: Four Dance Episodes, which to me remains Justin Peck's very best work — and in which Sara Mearns is sassy and radiant. And occasionally NYCB dusts off a Balanchine piece that nobody's seen; in this program, it's the strongly neoclassical (and hence right in Balanchine's sweet spot) Haieff Divertimento.
MAKE A NIGHT OF IT: There's nothing special about Joanne Trattoria — but it is owned by Lady Gaga's parents.
