In his Speaker Music project, DeForrest Brown Jr. reclaims Techno for African-Americans, who invented the form -- although Speaker Music does it in a style a good deal more abstract than what was coming out of Detroit on the cusp of the '80s/'90s. Ryan Ferreira is a very good guitarist who seems to be playing in like half the musical events recommended this week; here he duets with invaluable New York New Music cellist Clarice Jensen. James Hoff is a visual artist who's also a sound artist.
