Available Light was first mounted in New York in an early Next Wave Festival, when BAM was in what you might call its "Justice League of America" phase, assembling all-star teams of Big Names to create Big Works.  So, here: Lucinda Childs!  John Adams!  Frank Gehry!  My response to that original production was something along the lines of, "wow."  That might not be the deepest nor most satisfying response to a piece -- but it's something.
MAKE A NIGHT OF IT:  In 1984, people complained about having to go to Brooklyn to see this piece. Now, they'll complain about having to go to Manhattan.  Make the best of it by eating, drinking, and all-around partying atfestive Cuban spot Guantanamera.
